Lucy Parks is a New York-based activist, educator, and spoken word artist. Born and raised in the Appalachian Mountains, Lucy fulfilled the requisite small-town queer narrative by moving to the big city right after high school. However, Lucy continues to honor Appalachian heritage and identifies as an ethical redneck. Lucy is most regularly found sitting in long meetings about the education crisis and the criminal justice system or teaching a class of kindergarteners in Ridgewood, Queens. The most passionate organizing and artistic work that Lucy does revolves around prison abolition, queer identity, and access to higher education.
